NCMA: North Carolina Museum of Art

Sometimes, all you need is a little trip to the museum.
It's the little things. I'm linking up with Lindsey, From the Aisle to Aloha.

Ah, a trip to the museum. An art museum.
Sometimes that's all you need. Did you know I've never been to any of the museums in Raleigh and I've been living there for years. By years, I mean practically my whole life (with the exception of going to five different elementary schools including Richmond, Guam, Cary and Raleigh) ANYway, the museum was lovely. I felt so grown-up, I actually read the descriptions (I mean, did you really do this on school field trips, be honest) and I absorbed it all. Also, the NCMA has this kickBUTT restaurant inside their second building that looks so cool! It's on my list of places to eat in Raleigh :] Any one want to come with?

So in conclusion, when you need a little lift, time for thought and some good ol' inspiration, go to the closest art museum possible and make some art of your own ;)

Have a safe and inspiring weekend!
Be sure to check out the previous post about my lovely friend Chelsea's creative and innovative shop! Her shop is almost as lovely and cute as she is :)

  1. The restaurant at the museum is fantastic.

I made sure to hit the museum before I left for school, we took a lot of the same pictures, Mav!

  3. Amazing photos!! I adore art museums, the one in Toronto is conveniently located RIGHT next to my university (an arts university... definitely not a coincidence baha). I get to go for free with my student card, it's really great!

YOU KNOW THAT GIANT MULTIMEDIA GOLDEN PIECE YOU HAVE PICTURED HERE, the photo right before the one of the hands? By El Anatsui? They had an exhibition of his work in Toronto last year and I saw it! His work is amaaazing, but I might be biased because his big draping pieces remind me of the work of Klimt which is my favourite artist.

Kind of loving all these arts-related posts lately ;)

  6. Your post came up in my media alerts for the NCMA. I absolutely love your photos and are so glad you visited! Feel free to post your images on our Flickr page; they are so much fun and we would love to share them.

@K - we are actually opening an entire retrospective of El Anatsui's work in March, including several of the giant sculptures! Be sure to check it out: ncartmuseum.org/exhibitions/el_anatsui

  7. I've been aching to go to the Birmingham Museum of Art, but it seems as though none of my friends want to come with! Care to make a trip to accompany me? Haha, but for real- I'm such an art nerd. I'm that kid that everyone would get annoyed with on field trips because I LOVED reading every single description. I think the backstory is what makes every piece all the more interesting!

And look at you rockin' that oxford Polo! Too cute!
